Michael Arteta still doesn’t know if Sunday’s north London derby will go ahead as the Arsenal boss continues the struggle to hold a squad together.
The club are in discussions with the Premier League as they await further fitness updates ahead of the trip to Tottenham.
With four away players at the Africa Cup of Nations, Granit Xhaka suspended plus injury and Covid concerns surrounding seven more, Arsenal are now on the borderline of no fewer than 13 players plus a goalkeeper required to play a Premier League match.
The club is expected to await further updates tomorrow before making any final decision on submitting an official request to postpone the match.
“I don’t know if the match will be over,” Arteta said.
“It’s hard to say quite frankly without evaluating our players, but what’s unlikely today is likely to happen tomorrow.
“Things have gone the other way for us recently when we were ready to play a match and it was called off twice because the other team had issues.
“So things can go both ways, but our goal is always to play.”

He added: “We had concerns already before the match against Liverpool, and after the match we had some problems.
“We haven’t been able to rate the team yet because we couldn’t fly last night, so we just got to the training ground and all the players are taken care of. So we don’t know.”
Xhaka comes out after he appeared in red directly against Liverpool due to his mistake on Diego Jota in the first leg of the League Cup semi-finals at Anfield.
The midfielder later apologized to the fans and congratulated his teammates after the 0-0 draw.
And posted online: “I want to apologize to everyone,” Shaka wrote on Instagram shortly after the final whistle.
“I am very proud of my team and the spirit they showed to keep a clean sheet tonight.”
