Frances Ngannou discusses sparring with Cyril Jean

Cyril Jean is confident he can convince the UFC to host their first-ever event in France if they pass Frances Ngannou this month.

Jane – who was born in a small town in western France – meets his old training partner and current heavyweight champion Ngannou in the main event of UFC 270 on January 22.

MMA was effectively banned in France six years ago after they banned the use of the octagon and many of the sport’s major techniques.

But in September 2019, the French Minister of Sports – Roxana Marasinho – announced that she would lift the ban on mixed martial arts in the country and begin the process of regulating the sport.

Since then, promotions such as Ares FC have hosted events in France with Bellator as well, but the UFC has yet to visit the country.

And Gane believes that winning at UFC 270 will help him negotiate with the UFC to bring an event home.

He said, “If I win, I think I can ask the UFC and I can work for this, because I’m going to be the champ, so I hope this helps me do that” mirror fight .

“Of course, this is a dream of many fans in my country, because this is my dream as well. I want to bring the UFC to Paris and me with the main event.”

UFC President Dana White admitted he would have loved to host Ngannou vs Gane in France, but the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented them from doing so.

Ngannou and Gane used to train together at the MMA Factory lounge in Paris, but Ngannou found a new coach in 2018 after a feud with head coach Fernand Lopez.

Jan, the interim title holder, was left baffled when Ngannou shrugged off him and ex-coach Lopez as he navigated the duo backstage at UFC 268 last year.

Ngannou also brushed aside his former teammate Nusruddin Imafov – who had just won his fight in the event – something Jin said was “wrong”.

With Imanov booked to fight Kelvin Gastelum next, Gane thinks his teammate will likely fight for the title this year.

He continued, “Everything is possible with this guy, I think I have something in my eyes, I can see everything, and that’s why maybe today I’m a great fighter and a fast learner.”

“I can see the potential in people and for me, Nassruddin Iamov, this is the future and everything is possible.

“For me, he’s going to win this fight against Kelvin Gastelum, he can have another fight this summer and then at the end of this year, maybe that’s possible.” [he fights for the title]. “
