Ghana are facing their Africa Cup of Nations campaign in jeopardy after the four-times champions conceded a late equalizer against Gabon to tie their Group C match 1-1.

Benjamin Tetteh was shown a red card for throwing a punch as tensions escalated between Gabon and Ghana after a full-time draw in their 1-1 draw.

It left Ghana a draw with one point from their two Group C matches and they risk disqualification if they do not win their last match against Comoros on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Gabon is second in the group with four points and needs just one point from its last game against leaders Morocco on Tuesday to qualify for the round of 16.

Aubameyang was disqualified in Gabon due to a minor heart condition

Aubameyang has been left out of the Gabon team to face Ghana due to a minor heart condition.

The Arsenal striker tested positive for the coronavirus upon his arrival in Cameroon last week, but later posted on social media to say he had made a full recovery.

However, Gabon announced that Aubameyang, along with teammates Mario Lemina and Axel May, had all been ruled out due to “heart injuries”.

Understandably, Arsenal are convinced that Aubameyang’s condition is not serious.

They have also been in contact with the 32-year-old, who feels fine and has been training in the past two days.

The Gabonese Football Association said in a statement: “According to the Confederation of African Football [Confederation of African Footbal] The medical committee, players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Mey and Mario Lemina, hardly out of Covid, cannot participate in this match.

“The scan showed cardiac lesions, and CAF did not want to take any risks.”
