This year, the Premier League will undergo a dramatic change in the history of the tournament, with eight players playing 16 mini-events during the season before play-off matches to determine the champion.

This year’s darts extravaganza will continue in 17 arenas across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany and will offer a huge and high prize money of £1m, but there is a big development.

In a new development, the Premier League will feature eight players in 2022, with 16 league nights being single events including the quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final over the top 11 games – with a bonus of £10,000 per night. winner.

Each player will meet the other seven players twice over the course of the season in a quarter-final match, plus two more nights that will include additional fixtures in the same format.

Ranking points will also be awarded from each night – five to the winner, three runners-up and two to the semi-finalists – to form the league table from which the top four players advance to the playoffs.

Over the course of 16 weeks, players will face each other twice in the quarter-finals to form a 14-night draw, with an additional two nights facing each other again.

“The Premier League has grown beyond recognition since it was first introduced 17 years ago, but the time was right to introduce this groundbreaking new format,” said Matt Porter, chief executive of PDC.

“Our new format means every match counts. Every night of the season has its own hero and will provide even greater value to the fans who come and watch around the world, with seven matches played until the end to find the winner everywhere.

“There is also a broader play-off race, the challenge for the Premier League title and a share of the massive £1m prize money.

“We’ve already seen huge interest across the UK and Europe from fans looking to attend the Premier League live once again, and this year they will be seeing more first-class darts than ever at this event.”
